Yulong snow mountain view from below

3 06 2009

On my recent trip to China, I’ve visited a very spectacular place in Lijiang where it has a magnificent view of the Yulong snow mountain. But the amazing thing is the crystal clear water flowing down from the snow mountain which ends up in a lake which supplies water to the villages nearby.

Can’t help it but to share it with you…:D

Kedah road trip

1 05 2009

Started the road trip with a breakfast in Pelita in Sungai Petani. I didn’t had anything as got some boiled eggs from my wife on the way to breakfast meeting point. I then carpooled with a new friend I met named Mujib, a nice guy with a Honda Jazz. After breakfast, we head to a museum archeology in Lembah Bujang and the rain started pouring. It’s not a great start for the road trip but lucky enough the first stop was a museum where it has some roof to have our gears protected from the rain.

Everyone started shooting in the museum itself, when I turn around all I’m seeing is stones everywhere. While I walk around, I saw a Ganesha figure which is made by granite stone that captures my eyes.

Since it’s still raining outside, I thought there wasn’t any chance to shoot the real archeology site hence I’ve start shooting at a couple of models made up for displays in the museum.

Later on, I’ve found that the rain has stop hence I quickly take the chance to get out of the museum and find some of the archeology site shown in the museum.

After a short walk uphill, I found a site. It’s just breathtaking as the site was so well preserved though there’s so many visitors for so many years after it was found.

Since it was such a breathtaking view, we’ve decided to get a group photo of the ShutterAsia’s members who has attended.

After a couple of shoots around the archeology site, we left the place and head to Alor Setar. Once we’ve reach the exit tol in Alor Setar, we were told that it’s our second shooting site which most of us is pretty shock. Anyway, I snap a quick picture where there’s a advertisement on renting lorry. Maybe we could call the number the next road trip?

Later on we found out that we’re actually waiting for another couple of folks from ShutterAsia which is staying around Alor Setar area. When they’ve arrived, we’ve moved on to our second actual site which is the Alor Setar tower.

Standing tall at 165.5m, there were Nikon product which tourist used to see the city…

Later on, what I was surprised seeing was a couple of switches which has danger written on it. I was pretty confused and due to the human nature of anxiously I was about to turn it on/off to see what’s the danger. But later on when reality kicks in, I thought it’s better not mess around with such signs as who knows it’s a switch to activate bombs or so. I don’t want to be in the news the next day where the header that I can foresee was “A dumb man presses a switch which has danger all written around and kills millions”.

Once everyone is happy with their shoots and taking in some fresh air high above ground. We headed for our lunch, it was great but a little pricy. After lunch, we head to our next stop which is the paddy museum. Kedah is known for it’s paddy plantation which feeds lots of other states around Malaysia.

I didn’t know that there’s so many types of paddy seeds until I visited the museum.

After the short walk in the museum, I’ve decided to head out with a couple of other folks to shoot the Jeriang mountain nearby the museum.

On my way out, there’s a statue which has a man guiding the bull which is also showing the way how people actually work the paddy fields olden days. This also reminds me of how our world current economy now is doing, I think we should drive the bulls back into the market and chase the bears out. This will also enable me to achieve my dreams of getting my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 IS USM lens.

Anyway, after museum we head out the surroundings where they have actual farmers showing us how they actually do it these days.

We headed to Kuala Kedah for sunset shoot and before the sun sets, we saw an uncle trying to catch some fish at the beach.

What was actually funny is behind the picture. There’s like so many photographers shooting the uncle working his way for some food. I bet our flashes chases the fishes away. I believe in other countries, such a scene can only be seen in football games or any other sports but it’s a little different here in Malaysia’s ShutterAsia outing.

After a couple of minutes, everyone just stop shooting at the uncle and start to concerntrate on the sunset shoot. I did the same too and below is my favourite shot of the sunset using Cokin filter system.

Silhouette of a photographer shooting the sunset…

Right before we head out for dinner, I started to try out some strobist at the beach with another passenger, Azlan…

Later on with Mujib, the Honda Jazz driver which is also my new friend I’ve met in this outing…

A city life…

16 04 2009

I’ve been here for almost 4 days and from my previous trip staying the same hotel I’ve attempted to went to check out the KL city view from Crowne Plaza hotel unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough the last time. This time I am determined to get that city view from the hotel hence I walked around and I finally found the exit to the 30th floor on the building. It was almost dark and I was able to capture the below view in panorama mode…
